Evolution of the German Field Uniform 1939 - 1945

This was a wonderful project to work on. I wanted to break the stigma surrounding the German uniform by showing how it, and its equipment, evolved (and degraded) throughout the war and to show it wasn’t all just fashion and glamour as a lot of people still think when they picture a German uniform. You can see that the initial design was quite impractical in terms of materials, whereas the allies had already thought of this when they entered the war. If anything, these illustrations really show what war really is – a machine. And I encourage everyone to dive into the history of war so that we can prevent these things from ever happening again.

I started this project as an initial pitch to one of my local war museums and they have happily accepted my involvement, which I’m delighted about. The illustrations will be incorporated into the museum in physical or digital form in the near future. If you are interested in history and want to learn about the Liberation of Belgium during World War II through the combined efforts of Polish and Canadian troops, you should definitely visit the Canada Poland War Museum in Maldegem, Belgium!
