Taking on a mentor

So, I've decided that I needed to learn a lot more if I wanted to reach my goals of painting realistic & dynamic (historical) scenes. To do this I've started taking a mentorship. I noticed that one of my favourite artists on Artstation, Sasha Beliaev, offered a mentorship, so I immediately jumped on the opportunity!

Sasha Beliaev does Production Illustration and Design for Film and Games, Matte Painting and Concept Art. He has over 25 years of experience in Film, Opera and Games. His invaluable skills and knowledge are a perfect match for what I want to achieve! He also does a lot of historical artwork so both in art style and subjects he's truly the perfect fit!

During this mentorship, I've (already) learned so much! I've started to completely re-learn almost everything from the ground up. From perspective to lighting and shadows, to realistic rendering & composition. I've already learned more in a couple of weeks than I would have in 4 years of self-education! I'm so glad I've decided to do this and I'm very excited to learn more!

You can find the portrait study I've made after our first session as well as all my future studies on my Artstation portfolio, website an all of my socials.
